Following an agreement signed in June 2008 which enabled Japan's JCI (Japan Communications Incorporation) to provide MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) service leveraging on NTT DoCoMo's 3G network capacity, JCI and NTT DoCoMo recently extended their cooperation by inking an network interconnection agreement, Nikkei Electronics reported. Pursuant to the agreement, NTT DoCoMo's WCDMA (Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) networks are interconnected with JCI's networks, thereby enabling JCI to provide the interconnected MVNO service. Initially JCI will provide the services by means of a USB (Universal Serial Bus) tool manufactured by China's ZTE. In the future, it is projected that all compatible terminals, such as Smartphones, PCs, MIDs (Mobile Internet Devices), and Google Android-based devices, will be able to access the interconnected MVNO service.
